Terms and Conditions

Tuition Terms and Conditions (Term-time courses)

1. Fees for tuition are at the rate stated in the course information letter.

2. In order to book a course of lessons, a non-refundable £100 deposit is required. This deposit will be deducted from the total course fees due.

3. Tuition should be paid for either in full at the beginning of the course or in monthly instalments by direct debit or childcare vouchers.

4. If paying by monthly instalment, the balance of fees after the deposit has been paid will be split over the number of months remaining. If the start date is partway through a course, you will usually be required to pay the deposit and first instalment of fees on booking.

5. Each session will take place on the agreed dates and times at the stated venue unless a lesson is rearranged for a time / venue that are mutually convenient to both tutor and student.

6. Please ensure your child arrives promptly and is collected promptly at the end of any booked session. Children who arrive more than 15 minutes in advance of their booked session; or are collected more than 15 minutes after the end of their booked session will be charged at the child care hourly rate of £8 per hour, at a minimum charge of 30 minutes.

7. Please do not send the pupil to a lesson if they have any known or suspected condition which may be contagious. If a contagious condition is suspected, the pupil should not attend any lesson during the period in which they could be incubating the condition or at any point after contracting the condition when they could still be contagious. Any pupil who is showing any symptoms of a flu-like illness should stay away from classes until they are fully recovered and free of symptoms. In the instance of sickness or diarrhoea, the pupil must have been clear of all symptoms for at least 48 hours before attending a lesson.

8. If the pupil misses a lesson, unfortunately no refund can be given. However, where possible, the pupil will be offered an alternative 'catch-up' lesson with another group, up to a maximum of two per term.

9. Each lesson will be taught by a tutor and, where possible, will be supported by an assistant if the group size exceeds four pupils and there is a need for an assistant.

10. If the tutor is unable to teach a lesson, where possible, an alternative tutor will take the class. In the event that a lesson is cancelled due to the fault of 'Flying Start', an alternative date will be offered, where possible. If no alternative date can be offered, a refund will be given or the amount deducted from the total course fees.

11. We are not liable for lessons cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control such as adverse weather conditions, war, pandemics etc. If such events lead to the cancellation of lessons, no refund will be given. However, we will always do our best to offer alternative lessons wherever possible.

12. If you wish to withdraw your child from a course, please give at least one month's notice, for which the fees will be due. No refunds can be given for a child leaving partway through a month. Flying Start Tuition also reserves the right to levy an additional charge for any resources used by the child that have not been covered by the fees already paid.

13. If driving to the venue, please park safely and considerately. We are not liable for any damage to vehicles whilst parked in the venue's car park; nor can we be held responsible for any injury to persons whilst moving between their vehicle and the venue.

14. We strive to provide the best possible service. However, we will not be held accountable or responsible for the academic success or lack thereof demonstrated by the student/client. Although we will do everything in our power to help grades and skill sets improve, we can offer no guarantee thereto.

You, the client, specifically waive any and all claims arising out of the use of this tutoring service.
